Some words from the youth....

" ive had so much fun here with everyone at times its been hard because its so hot but then the two adults mr. Mark and Greg I've worked with most have made it so much fun i love my home but this is becoming my home more and more each day miss you guys ,love Samantha

"Tami and Christie need to learn to mix Gatorade in the Walmart parking lot! Also it such a moving experience to see how God works in all the kids no matter what they are doing. They all are here to let Christ live in their bodies" Big Kyle (he loves moving sheetrock. call him if you ever need help moving sheetrock)

"Putting up sheet rock is a lot of fun, but insulating is not." Brenna

"Well so far so good only one less finger to work with but I will make it only by the grace of God." Harold

Yesterday, we discussed what it means to Surf into Action. They are putting their faith into action and demonstrating risk taking mission. They have stepped out of their comfort zones (no ipods, no cell phones, thin mattresses, no tv, burning hot showers, roaches, no computers, no myspace and the list goes on). They are solely focusing on God and and serving. The relationships that are being formed are amazing! The theme yesterday was Grab Your Board, Dude! The surfboard is a key component in surfing. It is the foundation and what you need to stand on to keep you from falling in the water. God's Word is our foundation. It is exciting when surfers ride the waves in (I wouldn't know this). It is also exciting when we are riding the waves with God. We may still fall off the board, but God is always right there to pick us back up. Just like surfers need to practice, we need to spend time in God's Word. We challenged the youth to figure out when they leave this beautiful place, what do they need to do to make their foundation stronger????

We are blessed to have such wonderful adults on the trip with us!

Dave is sporting the theme on his shirt today by wearing a For Big Boys only Maui shirt with a surfboard on it.

We just finished our TAG time (Time Alone w/ God) and are about to leave for the work sites. Tami and I will be on the roof today. Yea!!!!!!!

I will post more tonight. Feel free to leave comments and we can share it with the youth and adults.

It sounds like you all are doing great. God is really allowing you all to spend time with him...in WORD and DEED.

This past Sunday - I prayed each of you would have a chance to meet someone who is "outside" the temple at the Beautiful Gate.....
I am still praying that in the midst of the physical labor - you find ways to see God's people.

Listen in team - God will speak to you.

We are praying for you here at CUMC. I am proud to be the pastor at a church with youth and adults who are willing to be missionaries.

Grace and Peace,

Jerome
PS. Someone keep an eye on Rev. Harold - sounds like he can be accident prone. :)

I miss ya'll like crazy!
I pray that each of ya'll are kicking butt out there and shinning God's light. Each of ya'll have so much to give. I love all of ya'll so much.
Have fun, work hard, and remember who you're serving.
I totally wish I was there.
Can't wait to hear all the stories when ya'll get back.

Hi all! I was there, in Mississippi, with Christie her Sr. year of high school (a looong time ago). Since I'm much older than most of you, I would have never believed that I would now be able to be there in Spirit with you and actually see and hear what is going on daily. (Back in the old days, we progressed over the years to get a phone report by calling in to the church.) You are able to be such a witness by being able to tell your stories as they happen. God is truly an awesome God and able to use you to tell your story to those close to you and those around the world. Continue to listen and to follow and to witness. We're hearing you!!! And oh, by the way...give the adults a break now and then. They are giving more than you realize and all because they said yes to serving Christ!!

Debbie

PSS Go Sandy!!! Wish I was there!

Keep up the good work! I like the work team names, they are especially fantastic this year. Kyle, it takes a special kind of person to be able to mix gatorade in the middle of a parking lot okay? Christie and Tami rock! Ya'll take care of Harold; and I can't wait to hear the stories when you get back! I'm praying for you, as always.

P.S. To the "stepping out of the comfort zones" comment.... "Be a man, touch the dirt!"

CUMC Youth Rock! Sounds like the work teams are set...just not sure anyone could match Team Baller from last year. Of course, Christie & Tami would love for anyone to try :) Hey, Ben, are you doing any work on that ladder? At least keep watch over Rev. Harold while looking around, okay? I LOVE catching up on what I'm missing out on!

Keep ur eyes on Him...
